This Campus Guide is designed for the course RCT 1010 - College Debate in a Global Context.
Here you will find resources to complete the assignments and study for the course.
If you are not in the course, you can find great resources here to use to improve your debate abilities. Please feel free to look around and use whatever elements of the page you wish.
Goals of this Course
After completing this course, you will be able to:
1. Explain the reasons for participating in collegiate debate
2. Identify and discuss the differences between the major formats of debating worldwide
3. understand and apply the principles of making persuasive arguments during debates
4. judge and offer constructive criticism of formal debates
5. apply the insights of argumentation theory to debating
6. discuss the history of intercollegiate debating in the United States
