Suggest a CAPPD resource
If you have a resource that you think would be helpful to other CAPPD faculty or students, please share the link using this box, or email me and I will add it to the appropriate guide/guides (with attribution of course!)
Info Basics
Access URL: http://www.stjohns.edu/central (Note: login username/password provided by C. Russo at Orientation)
Check news and Information on faculty tab for lectures, professional development opportunities and events.
UIS: You can access the UIS through
- St. John's Central UIS tab
- Main university website www.stjohns.edu
NOTE: The University UIS system requires that you initially enter some information in order to get past this personal information page in the UIS system. The request to supply an EN (emergency number) is aimed at students and faculty who spend time on our bricks & mortar campuses. If you do not plan to spend time on-campus, we suggest that you check the box next to the phrase: "I choose not to provide an EN number." After you submit that checked-box, you should be able to click on the other tabs.
Problems with St. John's Central: Click on the "General Help" (to the right of the login info) to get help with common problems. If none of the solutions listed address you issue, use the "Technical assistance form" link on that page. Please be sure to indicate in the email that you are a CAP Faculty member. Please be descriptive and specific about what the problem is, what you have already tried as solutions, and attach screen shots* of any errors. It may also be helpful to indicate what Operating system you are using, and what browser you are using.
LIBRARY:
Access URL: ALWAYS use main website http://libraries.stjohns.edu (rather than the Library Tab in StJCentral)
Databases: Search by preferred database name using the Databases A-Z link, or Browse Resources by Subject: defaults to databases covering that subject discipline, but also offers e-Reference, websites and electronic Journal access.
Access from off campus: Whenever you click on a subscription database from home (from the Databases A-Z, or Browse Resources by Subject), you will encounter a red and white "proxy screen," input the same username & password you use for SJCentral (above)
Research Guidance help, tutorials and tours: http://libguides.stjohns.edu/research
Refworks: Citation Management System
- RefWorks Overview and tutorials: http://libguides.stjohns.edu/refworks
- RefWorks account: http://libraries.stjohns.edu/refworks
You will need to set up a username and password for your Refworks Account the first time you use it. Note: If you are ever prompted for a groupcode, check the RefWorks troubleshooting tab for help.
Problems with LIBRARY resources: If you are having problems accessing library resources that you cannot troubleshoot, please email Prof. Shaughnessy, (shaughnk@stjohns.edu). Please be sure to indicate in the email that you are a CAP Faculty member. Please be descriptive and specific about what the problem is, what you have already tried as solutions, and attach screen shots* of any errors. It may also be helpful to indicate what Operating system you are using, and what browser you are using.
(*To take a screen shot press Shift+PrtSc and paste (Ctrl+V) the image/s into a Word Document and attach the document to your email.)
